Year 2's Last Stop on Market Street!

In English, Year 2 have been exploring the book Last Stop on Market Street. To develop their writing skills, the children have been focusing on using more exciting verbs and descriptive adjectives. To spark their imaginations, they listened to two pieces of music and created expressive oil pastel drawings inspired by the images and feelings that came to mind. These imaginative drawings then provided inspiration for writing creative expanded noun phrases, describing what they could see, hear and smell.

The children were then challenged to retell the story in their own words using a storyboard format. This helped them to explore the key events and prepare for their next step: planning their own stories inspired by the book. To build their confidence in speaking aloud, the children took it in turns to stand on stage and proudly share their story recounts with the class.
