To develop their writing skills, the children have been focusing on using more exciting verbs and descriptive adjectives. To spark their imaginations, they listened to two pieces of music and created expressive oil pastel drawings inspired by the images and feelings that came to mind. Thursday 1 October 2026 KS2 Staying Safe on the Roads To support our understanding of Road Safety, Mrs Elliot from Transport for Herts visited Key Stage 2 to offer an interactive session. She shared information about safe stopping distances for a car travelling at different speeds and we were surprised that even travelling at 20mph it would take the length of our hall for the driver to stop. We were also reminded about other distractions including the dangers of crossing the road whilst using a mobile phone and why it is important to not just follow others when crossing the road but to stop, look, listen and check for themselves. What a brilliant reminder to keep us all safe when out and about!

Monday 21 September 2026 School Council 2026/27 Congratulations to those children elected to represent Skyswood on this year's School Council. As always, there were several children in each class who put themselves forward; over sixty in total! Every single child's voice is important and well done to all of those children who made presentations to their class and put themselves forward. Each class will have its own meeting before School Council come together. This ensures that all children have the opportunity to present their ideas, with the class agreeing upon which ideas they would like their School Council reps to present at each meeting. The Year 3 boys' vote was a tie between Noah and Alex, so we have simply decided to offer an additional School Council place for 2026/27. This year's Headteacher nominations went to two children who both came very close in the elections and will most certainly be positive additions within the School Council team.
